Lifestyle
During World War II, life in the POW camps was often harsh. There were harsh weather conditions, and standard military housing. Having to live with hundreds of overworked, unbathed POWs was not lovely either. The food was very poor and since rations were so low, the other POW guards and I took to eating the Red Cross Relief crates sent to the camps for the POWs. I feel no shame in doing so as our prisoners are true enemies of Japan and do not deserve any of these treats. Following the war, life on the farm was none too comfortable. The work was hard and my lodging was the standard extra housing that my farmer employer could offer. Following my return to normal society, life was much easier. The living I made selling insurance was plenty to provide for my needs. I was quite comfortable in my current position, and retired to an easy living between my homes in Tokyo and Australia. I have come a long way from my early military career to my wealthy retirement. As seen in the picture, displaying myself in my later life and the actor that played me in the recent movie Unbroken.
